MFD-T - Motorised Flexion Decompression Therapy
What is Spinal Decompression therapy?
Spinal decompression is a non-surgical, traction based therapy for the relief of back, leg, neck and arm pain. By cycling through distraction and relaxation phases and by proper positioning, a spinal disc injury can be placed under negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect within it. Because of this pressure, disc material that has protruded or herniated can be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc, and permit healing to occur. Also with specific orientation of the table during therapy, MFD-T has been found to be a successful treatment for scoliosis.
Complete City Health has developed Motorised Flexion Decompression Therapy (MFD-T) which has been pioneered in Australia since 1996. MFD-T has been featured on both A Current Affair and Today Tonight. Due the exclusive nature of therapy we enjoy referrals from all manner of therapist including orthopaedic physicians and neurosurgeons.
What spinal conditions are suitable for MFD-T?
Spinal Decompression therapy is effective for numerous conditions and injuries. These include:
- Lumbar disc injuries (herniated, protruding, ruptured)
- Thoracic disc injuries
- Sciatica
- Failed lumbar surgery
- Centre canal Stenosis
- Lateral recess Stenosis
- Facet joint Syndrome
- Scoliosis
MFD-T is so effective because it:
1. Increases the intervertebral disc height. This removes tension on the annular fibres (outer portion of the disc) and spinal nerves
by making more room and improving circulation.
2. Allows the nucleus pulposus (the centre of the disc) to assume its central position within the annular fibres.
3. Restores correct physiological motion to the vertebral joints.
4. Improves posture and locomotion whilst relieving pain by improving nervous function.
The award winning computerised traction algorithm is the key to its success. The pre-programmed pattern for ramping up and down the amount of axial distraction eliminates muscle guarding and permits decompression to occur at the disc level.
Spinal decompression therapy has saved many people from spinal surgery. If you are suffering from lower back pain or scoliosis, call today to discuss it with one of our chiropractors.
